Recipe for an excellent early-morning drive to work:

1 cup coffee, insulated mug

1 warm car

1 CD of Billy Idol’s Greatest Hits left over in the stereo from last night, turned way up,and tuned to “Flesh for Fantasy”.

Sprinkle liberally with fist pumps to taste.

Serves one, your Mom.

    For 2 summers I would leave for at about 6:10 every weekday. The 10-15 minute drive usually gave me a solid 2.5 to 4 song pick me up. I always had 2 CDs burned, and I had a very simple policy: in the morning, I listened to only music that was made before the year 2000 and on the way it was only stuff post-2000. While I wasn’t strict on this policy, it definitely kept things fresh. For some reason, older music put me in the music to do what I was told where newer music encouraged me to call the shots.

    I think this somehow applies to your post.
