My meeting with my professor about my Marquee story didn’t go as badly as I had feared.  I wasn’t entirely happy with the piece when I had submitted it — there were some sections I was proud of, but overall it was only barely hanging together by some clunky transitional paragraphs and overeager “writerly” writing, which I tend to lapse into when I’m rushed or stressed.

He said he enjoyed it (nice to hear) and suggested ways that it could be restructured to improve the flow.

So.  I have a few more interviews do to, and I have to make up the 800 or so words that comprised the Retro Night scene that was chopped.

That will be added to my already daunting To Do list, which now looks like this:

  1. Re-write story for submission by next Friday (but bulk of work done by THIS Friday)
  2. Cram a little more for my midterm tonight at 7:30
  3. Catch up with readings for classes on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
  4. Write my query letter for Friday
  5. Draft another query letter for The Coast, a profile of Craig Mercer that could be run in April
  6. Pick up supplies for Cait’s visit (groceries mostly)
  7. Find time for interview, or at least SCHEDULE interview, with Matt Leible for The Good Point

About Upper Lip

It's mostly a collection of sweet links and copious amounts of talk talk talk. I like it more and more every day. And yes, even the ugly blue/green color scheme is not without a certain charm.
